SOFTBALL

Hofstra 3, Monmouth 0:Emma Falen tossed five scoreless innings, allowed three hits, struck out two, and walked none in host Hofstra softball’s 3-0 win over Monmouth Saturday in the CAA.

Chelsea Villar went 1-for-3 with a run and an RBI. Anna Butler went 1-for-2 with two RBIs for Hofstra (20-26, 15-12).

Carley Ernst pitched two scoreless innings in relief, allowed one hit, struck out two, and earned her fifth save.

Drexel 18, Stony Brook 17: Emily Reinstein hit two home runs for visiting Stony Brook (25-23, 18-9) in the CAA, but a seventh-inning rally fell short. Reinstein went 3-for-5 with three runs and six RBIs. Naiah Ackerman went 1-for-3 with a home run, and three RBIs. Alyssa Costello went 2-for-3 with two runs. Malorie Hill went 2-for-4 with a run and two RBIs.

St. John’s 4, UConn 3: Loreley Francia allowed three runs and four hits, struck out 11 and walked one in a complete game to lead visiting St. John’s (38-15-1, 18-5) in the Big East. Elanna Lysiak went 1-for-2 with a run and two RBIs. Jess Bianco went 2-for-4 with a run. Cassidy Stouffer went 1-for-3 with an RBI. Natalie Casto’s RBI single in the sixth gave St. John’s a 4-0 lead and allowed the Red Storm to withstand a three-run UConn rally in the bottom of the inning.

BASEBALL

LIU 8, Le Moyne 2: Nicholas Finarelli allowed two runs (one earned) and eight hits in eight innings. He struck out eight and walked two for visiting LIU (27-19, 20-4) in the NEC. Mason Brenton went 3-for-4 with a home run, and three RBIs. Ryan Rivera went 2-for-4 with a run and two RBIs. Jacob Piperic went 1-for-3 with a triple and a run.

St. John’s 15, Georgetown 10: Shaun McMillian went 3-for-5 with a home run, two runs and three RBIs to lead visiting St. John’s (24-20, 9-6) in the first game of a Big East doubleheader. Jon LeGrande went 3-for-5 with two runs and an RBI. Jace Jeremiah and Adam Agresti both hit home runs. The Red Storm won the second game, 12-10.

Townson 9, Stony Brook 8: Erik Paulsen went 2-for-5 with a home run, two runs, and five RBIs for visiting Stony Brook (22-22, 8-12) in the CAA. Nico Azpilcueta went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run. George Adams allowed two runs and three hits in 1  2⁄3 innings in relief and took the loss. He struck out three and walked one.

Molloy 6, Adelphi 0: JC Kiss pitched six scoreless innings, allowed five hits, struck out three and walked two to lead host Molloy (29-17) in the first game of a non-conference doubleheader. Joe Burriesci and Anthony Marsillo both went 2-for-3 with an RBI. Molloy won the second game, 6-2.

Elon 18, Hofstra 17: Tyler Castrataro went 2-for-6 with a home run, two runs, and three RBIs for host Hofstra (14-33, 4-16) in the CAA. Dylan Palmer went 4-for-5 with three runs and an RBI. Michael Brown went 4-for-6 with two runs scored and three RBIs. Christian Rasmussen took the loss in relief.
