The officer began the Heimlich maneuver and was able to help dislodge the bottle cap from Tyler's throat.

Starting this fall, a bell-to-bell smartphone ban will be implemented under the state budget, requiring school districts to ban students from using phones during the entire school day. NewsdayTV's Virginia Huie reports.

The Farrell twins were named valedictorian and salutatorian at Mount Sinai High School and they're also both attending the same university in the fall. NewsdayTV's Virginia Huie reports.

Anmol Gupta graduated from Sachem High School East and continued his education at Harvard University. He is now the founder and chief executive of Peech, a process mining consulting company. His advice to high school graduates is to work hard and things will come naturally.

Nathan Siegelaub graduated from East Meadow High School and continued his education at Harvard University. When Nathan's mother was diagnosed with stage IV pancreatic cancer, he moved back home and became a full-time caregiver with his father.

Home-based day care providers say late payments from the county's Department of Social Services are forcing them to cut staff and run up credit card debt. NewsdayTV's Andrew Ehinger reports.
